Badminton festival at Broadwater School - 21st March 2018

This afternoon I had the privilege of taking 14 Year 2 children to a badminton festival at Broadwater  School. The event was run by the Junior Sports Leaders within the aim of introducing the game of badminton, so no experience was necessary.

There were children from several local schools there. The children worked in groups rotating to eight different activities designed to teach the different skills involved in badminton. By the end the children were all hitting the shuttlecocks over the nets in mini rallies to each other; it was amazing to see how much they learnt in just 90 minutes! However, best of all was to see how much fun the children had, embracing this new game. Lots of physical activity and laughter we re had by all and although worn out by then end they were all proud of their achievements and certificates.

Now I need to see if we can set up a playtime club to continue playing badminton at school!

Thank you to all the children who participated, you did  Milford School  proud.
