Assessment

Assessment

Assessment is carried out by all teachers as an integral part of their daily work. Their findings are recorded regularly and systematically, so that the information gathered may be used in planning effective learning experiences, which will enable each individual to achieve her or his potential. Wherever possible the children are involved in discussing their own achievements and in deciding, with the teacher, on ways in which they may make further progress.

Each term the children in Year 1 and 2 carry out a standardised reading and maths assessment to support the teacher's ongoing assessment judgements.

Our ongoing assessment is carried out using a system called Educater (Sheffield Stat), where we constantly assess our children using the assessment objectives within the system.  It is in line with the national curriculum and enables us to identify specific areas for children to work on and make regular and an overall judgement about a child's attainment and progress.

Statutory assessment is carried out in accordance with the current regulations. We endeavour to make tests and assessments of any kind a stress-free and enjoyable experience for the children.
